Rev John Shearer

Rev John Shearer   (Interim Principal)

A native of Central Scotland, John grew up in a mining village in a loving, but non-Christian working class home where going to church was not the norm.  He first heard the gospel in his late teens and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour.  John’s early Christian life was greatly helped by working with Operation Mobilisation, an international group that seeks to help plant and strengthen churches, especially in areas of the world where Christ is least known.  From there, he trained at FMBC for two years and worked with FM as an evangelist for four years in the rural areas of the United Kingdom.
“I felt the need to do further study and went to Northern Ireland to study theology in Belfast.  Since then I have pastored churches in Northern Ireland and Scotland and been involved in a pioneering work in the Republic of Ireland.  In October 2011, I retired from pastoral ministry after 20 years at Musselburgh, and my wife, Jan, and I are enjoying being grandparents to seven grandchildren.”

Dr Adrian Holdsworth, MDiv, PhD, MInstP, CPhys
(Vice-Principal)

Adrian’s call to Biblical teaching came about while working in physics R&D and serving in his local church in Cambridgeshire.  Following a year of specific prayer about their ministry roles, Adrian and Heather were compelled by their church elders to give up their day jobs and find a Bible College in order to enter full time ministry!  Their unexpected journey took them to FMBC, then into the Faith Mission as rural evangelists, and most recently to Moody Theological Seminary in Chicago.  Experience in both lay and ‘professional’ ministry drives Adrian to equip believers for the local church and empower servant-leaders to live gospel-centred lives.  Adrian and Heather are members of Carrubbers Christian Centre.  At College Adrian is responsible for curriculum development  and lectures in Leadership, Bible Overview, Hermeneutics and some Bible books.

Heather Holdsworth, MA, BEd(Hons)

Heather studied in Edinburgh and enjoyed teaching in schools here. In 1997 she married her longstanding table-tennis opponent Adrian! Moving to Cambridge, they found their careers becoming the backdrop to the exciting things that God was doing in their local church. In 2005 they were urged to ‘give up the day jobs’ and switch vocations. They had the joy of 2 transformational years here at the Faith Mission Bible College. There followed a year working with the organisation in Derbyshire and then 3 incredible years at Moody Theological Seminary in Chicago. They now return – full circle – to the College where Heather will be lecturing in Spiritual Formation, Counselling and Children & Youth Work.

The College also benefits from the input of a number of external lecturers, including:
