We are delighted to welcome our new Bible College Principal, Dr Robert Murdock, who is joining the team this summer.

It is twenty-four years since I walked through the doors of The Faith Mission Bible College in Edinburgh to commence training for the work of evangelism.

I spent one year in the work after training before going on to study theology at university for far too many years. Having spent almost twenty years in pastoral ministry, the Lord has led me to give something back to the college where my journey in Christian work first began.

The Faith Mission Bible College has not only seen people trained for the work of the Mission but prepared and sent them into a rich variety of ministry settings all around the world. I ended up in pastoral ministry, but those who studied with me were led into all kinds of different work. Some went into the work of evangelism with the Mission but others joined other organisations as missionaries, children’s workers, street evangelists, church planters and Bible teachers, to mention but a few. This has been the story of the college as every new generation of students has passed through its doors.

I look forward to being involved, under God, to continuing this great work, building on the rich heritage of the past, while focusing on the challenge of helping people prepare themselves for service in today’s world.

First and Second year students will benefit from his expertise and approach through 2012-13 as they will be studying the principles in the classroom and putting them into practice on the streets with Paul’s coaching and encouragement. Yet this is not just about learning methods to take away and try, it is about a developing a perspective that prays sincerely and listens for God’s strategy for each set of circumstances our trainee-evangelists encounter.

If you would like to know more about training to live and explain the Christian faith read more here, or contact our office.

But we are “harmless,” and therefore unharmed. We are spiritual pacifists, non-militants, conscientious objectors in this battle-to-the-death with principalities and powers in high places. Meekness must be had for contact with men, but brass, outspoken boldness is required to take part in the comradeship of the Cross. We are “sideliners” — coaching and criticizing the real wrestlers while content to sit by and leave the enemies of God unchallenged. The world cannot hate us, we are too much like its own. Oh that God would make us dangerous!” Jim Elliot

2. A Tale of Two Empires A look at the story of two of the most powerful empires of the Ancient Near East and how the evidence from the ground fits perfectly with the biblical record. An exciting journey in company with the kings of Israel and Judah, seven centuries before Christ was born.

3. Why 66? The formation of the canon of Scripture. Is the Bible, as Richard Dawkins asserts, nothing more than a “chaotically cobbled-together anthology of disjointed documents, composed, revised, translated, distorted and ‘improved’ by hundreds of anonymous authors, editors and copyists”? The reality is very different.
