16-20 August 2010

The Faith Mission Bible College in Edinburgh is hosting this - their first Summer School of Christian Studies

This is a great opportunity to spend 5 days doing some stimulating study in 5 different topics, taught by 5 gifted teachers who are passionate and knowledgeable about their subjects

Make the most of a full board and accommodation option
or come as a 'day student'

Who knows - you might want to come full-time!

Sandy Roger: Praying the Jesus Way
Jesus' teaching about prayer is fairly well known, but what about his actual practice of prayer? It is clear that prayer formed a large part of Christ's own devotional life and we will be taking a look at how, where and when he prayed. As far as possible, we want to listen in on Jesus at prayer and learn from the Master about this necessary discipline.

Ian Balfour: Denominations - The Legacy of the Reformation
In the month that Scottish evangelicals commemorate the 450th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation coming to this country, we will explore the lasting significance for us, even today. The 16th century Reformers' right (and duty) to search the Scriptures for themselves may have led to different denominations, but is that a price worth paying for the right to the personal interpretation of Scripture?

Heather Holdsworth: An Introduction to Spiritual Formation
Like childbirth, the process of forming the image of Christ in believers is neither instantaneous nor painless (Galatians 4v19). In a spiritual climate where the journey is as critical as the destination, this course will unpeel layers of thinking and history to discover the well-laid paths to soul transformation.

John Shearer: Amos - The Triumph of Hope
Amos was called to exercise a faithful prophetic ministry at a time when God's people were unfaithful. He was an unpopular preacher, destined to bring a unpopular message. The people had never had it so good materially, but were at an all time low spiritually. It sounds all gloom and doom, but when God is at work there is always hope.

John Brand: The Truth about THE TRUTH
What grounds do we have for confidence in the Bible and why is it important to have such confidence? This series of lectures will look at and examine the traditional Christian beliefs about the inspiration, authority, infallibility, inerrancy and sufficiency of the Scriptures.
